Boy scout float wins top prize for third year

Sept. 17, 2012—We are proud that, for the third year in a row, the Buckeye Council’s float won the Grand Prize for the best overall entry in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival’s Timken Grand Parade. The Covey-Odell creative team contributed the graphics for the float. This year’s entry portrayed the theme, “Scouting: Your Access to Adventure,” and included Scouters in various activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, zip lining and mountain biking. Since this is the third year of winning, the trophy will be retired in the Buckeye Council’s name. We are pleased to partner with Boy Scouts of America, which serves as a healthy alternative to the negative influences youth face today and teaches skills that help them develop into quality citizens.

Covey & Koons Teams Up With Odell Advertising/Marketing

Sept. 8, 2008—Covey & Koons, Ltd. and Odell Advertising/Marketing, Inc. have joined forces to become Covey-Odell Advertising, Ltd.

Formerly located at 931 N. Main St. in North Canton, Covey & Koons has moved its operations just two miles south to the 4,000 square foot office building at 330 Schneider St. in North Canton, where Odell has been conducting business since 1968.

“Together, Covey-Odell Advertising has the combined strength and resources of two well-established agencies to meet the expanding needs of our clients,” said Rod A. Covey, president. “It's a win-win proposition for both parties because each agency brings its own unique set of skills and strengths to the table with one purpose in mind: to provide our clients with new opportunities, more service and better value for their advertising dollars.”

Former Odell president and CEO Dave Llewellyn will continue to work at the agency to assure a smooth transition, consult with the creative team and supervise several key accounts.

“Odell is an established fixture in the local advertising community with a proud history and bright future; it has great people, great clients and a great reputation in the marketplace. Covey & Koons shares the same proud history and future,” Llewellyn said. “This joining together of two respected marketing communications companies is a good match that will bring true value to our collective clients.”

The merger includes a change in the agency’s name and the way it brands itself. Effective September 1, the agency’s new name and tagline became Covey-Odell Advertising, Ltd.—Creative solutions for growing companies.

“This change more accurately reflects the nature of our business, the work we do for our valued clients and the business we anticipate winning in the future,” Covey said.

Covey & Koons was founded in 1967, and serves local, regional and national clients with advertising, marketing and public relations services.

Odell Advertising/Marketing was founded in 1944 in Mansfield and moved to North Canton in 1968. The company serves a wide range of clients across several states.
